''IT GAVE ME A GOOD FEELING BEING ABLE TO DO SOMETHING FOR A STRANGER, AND ALSO HOPEFUL KNOWING MORE PEOPLE DO THIS.''

I am a registered donor because the alternative is to be buried or cremated with all my organs. I think that's a shame. I would also like it very much that if I ever need a new organ, I would have it available from someone else.

I am also registered in the stem cell register. I was called in November 2023 as a potential match for stem cell donation. After further research, it turned out that I was the best match and I was allowed to donate stem cells. I had to inject growth factor and spent a day in the LUMC during the donation day. I do not know the patient, I only know that he is a man between 40 and 50.

It gave me a good feeling being able to do something for a stranger, and also hopeful knowing more people do this. It's so important for a person and this experience has made me think more about how much you help someone with something like this.

That's why I would like to say: register, you will no longer need your organs when the time comes. And also register at Matchis for stem cell donation.
