''I BELIEVE THAT THE CHOICE TO BE A DONOR SHOULD REMAIN A FREE CHOICE FOR PEOPLE, BUT PEOPLE SHOULD BE AWARE OF HOW MUCH IT CAN HELP SOMEONE ELSE.''

I am a donor because an organ of mine can save someone else's life after my death. I have experienced this up close.

We have a genetic kidney disease in the family. Transplantation is the only way to prevent premature death and live a reasonably normal life.
For example, my father had a kidney transplant 30 years ago, and my daughter had a kidney from our son 4 years ago.
I received a donor liver 5 years ago and am now living in bonus time. I am grateful for every day and grateful that a stranger wanted to donate his/her organ.

I believe that the choice to be a donor should remain a free choice for people, but people should be aware of how much it can help others. Matter of life or death. That is why I believe that it should be brought to our attention again and again how urgently sick people are waiting for a donor organ.
